Michael qualified from Queens University Belfast and Thames Polytechnic, Dartford, Kent in 1985 and has been in private practice since then. During that time he worked at Associate / Partner level with Derry Architects Loughrey, Agnew and managed large industrial (Fruit of the Loom International textile company), school (Thornhill Grammar School, Derry), sheltered housing (Castlederg for North & West Housing Association), ecclesiastical (St. Nicholas Church Carrickfergus, St Mary’s Church Maghera) and retail residential (120 apartments with ground floor retail for S & PS Kular Ltd,) projects from inception to completion.

Michael has a keen interest in education and has lectured in Construction Technology, Computer Aided Design, Surveying, Theory of Structures and Sustainability in the Built Environment at Newry and Kilkeel Institute of Further and Higher Education. In 2004 he joined Parker Green International as Design Director where his role involved, in house project design and implementation, project management, development of design concepts, along with overseeing and management of the company’s International Post Graduate Diploma and Masters Degree in Industrial Practice, which was a work based learning course, focussed on property development in the built environment, in conjunction with the University of Ulster.

Michael although still retaining his position as Design Director, established Delahunt Design Ltd. which has full professional indemnity and provides a full range of architectural services to GBR Estates Management Services Ltd, from project design, preparation of drawings specifications and schedules for lease, planning, building control and tender action along with project management.
